This single-story house is located in a vacation area with distant views of the Yatsugatake mountain range.

The building opens broadly to the south, orienting itself toward the surrounding forest and sky. Deep, extended eaves formed by a gently sloping mono-pitched roof continue seamlessly from exterior to interior, establishing a generous and continuous spatial framework.

The living area is given the maximum ceiling height, allowing views and light to extend naturally toward the trees and open sky, while the dining and kitchen areas are defined by lower ceilings that create a calmer, more intimate atmosphere for everyday activities.
Private rooms—including bedrooms, a study, and a tatami room—are arranged along the roof geometry; subtle changes in floor level secure ceiling height while introducing a gentle sense of distance from the shared spaces.
Through nuanced variations in ceiling height and floor level, the house avoids the monotony typical of single-story dwellings and introduces a natural rhythm to the experience of staying.
Materials were selected for their tactile qualities and their capacity to age gracefully, allowing the architecture to quietly embrace the surrounding natural environment as an extension of daily life.
